Volunteers working together outdoors on a community service project

Turn Your Weekends into Someone's Answered Prayer

More Than Service Hours. Real Work for Real People.

Most community service feels like checking a box. You want something different — work that's tangible, visible, and tied to a person who actually needs it. HomeWork 4 Heroes puts you on a real job site, with a real crew, serving a real family in your own community.

Why Volunteer

What You Get When You Give

Real-World Skills

You'll learn to use tools, manage a project timeline, coordinate with a team, and solve problems on the fly. These aren't classroom simulations — they're job sites.

Community Service Hours

Every project counts toward school-required community service and extracurricular records. We track and document your hours.

Leadership Experience

Student Ambassadors don't just volunteer — they recruit, plan, and lead. This is the kind of initiative that college admissions officers and future employers actually remember.

A Team That Matters

You won't be working alone. Every project is crew-based — you show up with classmates, friends, or fellow students and build something together.

Student Ambassadors

Lead the Mission at Your School

Student Ambassadors are the backbone of HomeWork 4 Heroes. They recruit volunteers from their schools, help coordinate project logistics, and represent the organization at campus events and community gatherings. It's not a title — it's a responsibility, and it's one of the most meaningful leadership roles a high school or college student can hold.

What Ambassadors Do:

  • Recruit and organize volunteer teams at their school
  • Help coordinate project day logistics
  • Represent HW4H at school events and community functions
  • Serve as the point of contact between their school and the organization

How to Become an Ambassador:

Sign up as a volunteer first. After completing 3 projects, you're eligible to apply for the Ambassador program. Current Ambassadors and the HW4H leadership team select new Ambassadors each semester.

Fun Fact: My family has three generations of Marines who have honorably served this country.

"Serving others in the community is important to me and it is at the heart of Covenant's Christian liberal arts education. I'm excited for the opportunity to be a student ambassador leading a chapter of HomeWork 4 Heroes at my school, encouraging my classmates to extend themselves to the wider Central Virginia community."

Fun Fact: I've been taking on jobs helping neighbors with pets and yard work to earn money since I was ten.

"I enjoy playing baseball, soccer, and swimming and participating in youth group at my church. I've been part of community service projects for a couple of years and enjoy helping others out. I'm looking forward to serving the community by bringing together friends and teammates as an ambassador to do more projects for veterans."

How Teams Work

You Won't Be Doing This Alone

Every project is crew-based. Here's how teams are organized:

School Groups

Sign up with your classmates, club, or student organization. We keep school teams together.

Community Groups

Church groups, Scout troops, neighborhood associations — any organized group can volunteer as a team.

Corporate Teams

Businesses looking for a meaningful team-building day can sponsor and staff a full project.

Individual Volunteers

Don't have a group? No problem. We'll place you on a crew with other students your age.

No experience required. We provide training, tools, and supervision on every project.
